The Indie Way – A unique way to learn
Monday June 19, 2023
In March 2022, Indie Logan opened its doors to four students. As of June 2023, we now have nearly 90 students enrolled in our independent flexible learning school across years 9-12.
Our school focuses on the understanding how each individual contributes to the environment and how everyone carries responsibility for Indie School to be a safe place for everyone to learn. This visual reminder of The Indie Way, created by Indie Logan, is placed on walls all around the school and is often referred to throughout the day.
The school grounds include an indoor basketball court that becomes a popular space before school and during breaks. This space is also used for our HPE classes.
Visually appealing classrooms were built to assist students in feeling comfortable while learning. Positive posters throughout the classrooms help support The Indie Way of our Logan campus.
Our shared kitchen is stocked by the school with help from the YMCA Breakfast Program. This helps assist the students in partaking of the Eat Well Do Well program. We provide options for students to make their own meals and/or partake of meals made for them. Students also have the option to bring in their own meals and use the kitchen to heat up or keep food cold.
Indie School also features a Bamboo Room to assist students in their wellbeing at school.
Our Indie School has been a constantly evolving space that has provided ways for students to improve themselves and continue to succeed with their goals and become more aware of the world around them so they can further their growth to contribute to their community.
